GALVESTON During 1907, Galveston termed its beach front as The Coney Island of the South. Multitudes of excursionists visited Electric Park, which was in its second season of operation on Seawall Boulevard. Chutes Park, Electric Parks immediate neighbor, opened for the first time, making Galveston an even more desirable stop for excursionists.

Chutes Park was built in the spring of 1907 on leased property in the northwest and southwest quadrants of Outlot 117. To be fair, adults viewing the television commercials for Six Flags Great Adventure cant be faulted for thinking their favorite rides from their youth have disappeared.

After all, the Six Flags company prides itself on being one of the most current amusement park chains, fully leveraging its partnership with one-time owner Warners, Inc. through rides that feature characters from its properties: Batman, Superman and Green Lantern. These are all great thrill-rides, and Bugs Bunny, Foghorn Leghorn as well as many Cartoon Network icons dot the park.

Vice President Jejomar Binay is seeing big financial windfall with the completion of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporations (PAGCORs) Las Vegas-style project for the huge numbers of tourists and investors it will bring to the country, consequently meaning high paying job for Pinoys.
